Joyetech Ego One Starter Kit
While not exactly a new product now, the Ego One Starter Kit has proven to be an awesome kit for new and experienced vapers alike, whether as your first vaping device or a stealthy backup device with solid performance and reliability.
The combination of size (lack of it), performance and price has lead to its popularity. As a starter kit for a new vaper, the Ego One offers insane performance compared to the older pen sized ego batteries and clearomizers that have been available for the last few years. While there is nothing wrong with the older devices, having worked for millions of people in their quest to free themselves from cigarettes, the Ego One offers more bang for buck.
Many colours, sizes and options are available.
We decided to focus on the standard kit with comes in 1100mah and 2200mah battery sizes and various colours. Much like most electronic cigarette devices, the Ego One is made up of 2 main parts: Battery and Atomizer. Unlike the Ego batteries from the past, the Ego One features a higher rated, sub-ohm capable battery. This means it can safely run atomizer coils down to 0.5ohm which leads to increases vapour production over previous kits. While this is far from essential for a new vaper, its a nice feature to have if you decide cloud chasing is for you. The battery includes many safety features to protect the device and user. The atomizer (clearomizer tank) attaches to the battery via the standard 510 threaded connection (basically the standard connection on all electronic cigarette devices) which means it not only fits perfectly to the Ego One battery, it also can be used on other devices. The tank comes in 1.8ml and 2.5ml capacity (matched with the 1100mah and 2200mah battery in each kit) and utilizes a replaceable coil design similar to many clearomizer tanks. The other main feature is Air Flow Control (AFC) which allows you to dial the perfect draw.
Stock coils come in 0.5 and 1.0ohm resistance and a newer coil has been released which allows you to rebuild, rewick the coils and adjust the juice flow.
- 0.5ohm coil – sub-ohm coil more suited for lung inhales. Higher power output resulting in warmer vape with increased vapour production
- 1.0ohm coil – Lower power output – more suited for a more tradition mouth to lung inhale. Slightly increased flavour, less vapour production
You get one of each coil in the kit, but I would suggest the 1.0ohm coil for new vapers.
My thoughts: I used both sized Ego Ones for about a month when they came in before giving them to a new vaper and was very impressed with them. Battery life was excellent and the ability to quick charge via micro usb was very handy. Due to the size they were barely noticable in my pocket. I found the 0.5ohm coil a little intense on a fresh battery in the mornings however I ended up running one device with the 1.0ohm coil for morning duties. For the price, its hard to fault this device. Build quality and materials was excellent for a device in this price range. The only major downside is the fact that due to the small size of the tanks, condensation would form in the chamber and would occasionally end up in my mouth while inhaling.
- If the tank gurgles or you are getting e-liquid in your mouth, take a tissue to the airholes and blow out any excess juice.
- Charging. As the battery vent hole is on the bottle of the device, always charge while the device is laying on its side. This allows the battery to breathe and prevents the device getting to hot.
